Justine Win Canete

Justine Win is a Product Designer and Frontend Developer of a Cebu-based startup company, Symph. Her role as a design consultant allows her to directly communicate with clients, understand their business problems, and solve these problems in a human-centered approach. A believer of Design Thinking and advocate of many things, Justine shares her thoughts and creative processes through workshops, talks, and write-ups. Recently, she has been facilitating Design Sprints in Cebu, Manila, and Davao. Knowing the importance of Sprint’s methodologies, she plans to introduce it to more cities in the Philippines. Justine also enjoys writing articles related to design, tech, and personal growth and publishes them on Medium.

Local tech communities are close to Justine’s heart. She has been involved as an organizer, volunteer, speaker, mentor, and participant to various events and organizations such as Google Developer’s Group Cebu, Startup Weekend Iloilo & Cebu, Women in Tech Cebu, and Dribbble Cebu.

She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology at John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University where she graduated as Cum Laude. In her college years, she served as one of the Google Student Ambassadors of Southeast Asia. She was a regional awardee of the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines- Western Visayas, and a finalist of the Ten Outstanding Students of Iloilo. In 2012, she was one of the four national awardees in Bayer Young Environmental Envoy program with her project League of Green Screenagers that aims to raise environmental awareness through eLearning. She was able to showcase her work in Germany where she represented Philippines during an expo. She was joined by other representatives of various countries. As a student leader, she was an officer of their university’s Student Council and Information Technology Society.

Aside from the hustlin' and bustlin’ in her career, Justine always enjoys a cup of tea or coffee with coffee table jazz playing in the background. Sometimes, she enjoys reading aloud a book to her bearded dragon, Steve. Listening to podcasts, watching series, and playing guitar are few of her hobbies. She has travelled to 6 countries and 12 cities in the Philippines and had gone through the most challenging DIYs in her life during these times. A self-proclaimed ambitious and restless soul, she squeezes in HIIT workout and meditation to her daily schedule. Justine’s signature dishes are Adobo and Chicken stew. She claims that Ilonggo food is the best, being an Ilongga herself. If you happen to visit her hometown Iloilo, she recommends that you try and experience 5 things: Roberto’s Queen Siopao, Madge’s coffee, Skinetic’s Lulur massage, Binhi’s live band play, and an evening walk at Esplanade.
