Justine Win Cañete is a design thinking advocate, minimalist, and music junkie. She designs meaningful products for humans and businesses, and shares her learnings during tech events. A believer of storytelling, she puts value first to user journeys then creates delightful interfaces.

Being a designer for three years, her skillset diversified to UX/UI, content writing, illustration and a little bit of branding. She previously worked with Symph starting as a designer then after two years, was promoted to a senior role. Here, she was able to work on projects with Rappler , World Bank, Cebu Landmasters, Gemfury, and many more.

Now, at the age of 23, she is a co-founder and design lead of Talented.

Justine’s fascination with design and frontend development started when she was pushed to join a regional hackathon during college way back in 2014. With only a week to prepare, she typed the words “How to code in HTML and CSS” in Youtube and stumbled upon Devtips channel. Eventually, she met an inspiring mentor named Travis Neilson to whom she named her MBP after. The result came quite surprising - she placed 4th among 16 participants as she was the only one who used Flexbox at that time. Little did she know that this will lead her to becoming a product designer who codes.

Justine took up BS in Information Technology at JBLFMU-Molo and graduated as the only Cum Laude of her batch. She is one of the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines- Western Visayas (TOSP) regional awardees in 2015.

She pays it forward by serving as a mentor, speaker, facilitator, organizer, and volunteer during various tech events of Google Developers’ Group, Sketch Meetup, Dribbble Meetup, Women Techmakers, Startup Weekend, and other local tech communities.

During her free time, she likes working on personal projects and fitness training, reading and writing articles, practicing musical instruments, and traveling. She is a coffee and milk tea evangelist, a music and documentary junkie, and a mother of a dragon named Steve. She’s a sucker for chocolate torte, peanut butter, and carrot cake.

Justine believes that making the world a better place starts by doing things that matter. She’s on a mission of creating a product with powerful tools for high performing teams.
